I did not buy the VIS to save money, I bought it to save weight and look better. fill that in with silicone, I also filled in the gap on the inside between the inner and outer shell. once you cut them off you will be able to see there is a channel that runs between the inner skeleton and outer shell of the top. cut them off and sand them down so that they sit lower than the mounting surface. The rear hooks are just fiberglass and should not be used with oem rear hardware. Some precautions were taken during the install to eliminate noise. I have greatly reduced noise inside the cabin.
I have ZERO squeaks, rattles or leaks or any type of noise, my top has no visible gap between it and the body. I did not use any of the weather stripping that comes with the top, I reused my soft top side windows weather strip and purchased $25 worth of weather stripping from home depot. I did not use the lexan that came with it because I wanted tinted lexan, the lexan that came with it was not perfectly cut and only 2mm thick, the replacement was 1/8' (3mm). Aftermarket wet carbon parts usually have failing clear within a year if left in the sun. It is lighter than the carbon fiber version because like almost all carbon fiber body parts, its fiberglass with one sheet of carbon over it. it weights 18lbs with window and brackets and weather strip.
I shared my install of the VIS fiberglass top on the FB group.
